We have worked closely with our customers to understand their current VAT processes and ensure these can be maintained as closely as possible with the transition to MTD. Our MTD toolset was developed with this goal in mind. CCH OneClick allows practices to continue to use their spreadsheets by providing the bridging software needed to submit in a compliant manner.
It also allows advisors to continue to submit and monitor returns on behalf of their clients if this is a process they use today. This gives practices the opportunity to offer new services. Validating and filing VAT returns for your clients who have been reliant on HMRC’s online interface is one opportunity for new revenue.
That said, some clients and advisors might not select this route as they transition. Practices might not have the capacity to take on the VAT submissions for clients and clients may prefer to prepare and submit VAT returns themselves. Are clients left to buy the necessary software or are practices left with no option but to take on the extra work they can’t afford?
