Morag Matthews

Professional Services Consultant - Tax and Accountancy

What do you do at Wolters Kluwer?

I am a Professional Services Consultant in the Tax and Accountancy team and am also taking on the role of product specialist in respect of CCH Personal Tax.  I provide training and consultancy on Personal Tax, Partnership Tax, Trusts Tax and Central and in addition to this I will be training in the future on other parts of the CCH suite of products. I am involved in implementation meetings with our clients to ensure the smooth roll-out of the software including discussing their expectations, confirming connectivity, designing appropriate training plans to meet their requirements and to maximise the return on their investment.

What made you want to change your career path?

Having spent many years in tax practice which I thoroughly enjoyed, I decided that I needed a new challenge. Digital tax is the future and, in my view, embracing this is paramount to success in business.

What was it that attracted you to the Wolters Kluwer role?

Working with like-minded individuals as part of a team while using the benefit of my experience in practice and tax knowledge to understand the requirements of Wolters Kluwer’s clients and to provide effective solutions.

What has been the most rewarding thing about making that career change?

Imparting knowledge to delegates on training courses and receiving positive feedback.

Has the career change been what you expected?

Yes, it is challenging yet interesting and each client is different which makes the work varied and rewarding.

How have your accountancy skills benefitted you in your new role?

Practical experience of how accountancy practices generally operate and their increasing reliance on technology has been of great benefit to me during implementation meetings and providing training as I have a good understanding of what clients are trying to achieve.

What do you enjoy most about working at Wolters Kluwer?

Dealing with the ever-changing needs of a wide variety of clients and while the role provides a good element of autonomy the support of the professional services team is at the same time invaluable.

If you're a qualified tax or accounting professional with experience working in practice and an interest in technology who's interested in a career change, Wolters Kluwer could be the place for you! Please send us your CV and we'll be delighted to discuss what opportunities might be possible for you!
